Monday night words: workshops & critique

poets in action

Hello there!

Check this spot for our monthly calendar updates of the Monday Night Poetry Workshop & Critique Series! I’ll be posting dates/times near the end of each calendar month for upcoming workshops & critiques. All events are completely open (no RSVP required) and suitable for all levels of writing experience (unless otherwise specified).

Welcome back to a new workshop “school” year! We are continuing to encourage community- & craft-building by workshop-critique follow-through– that is, whatever we cover in workshop on the 3rd Monday, we urge participants to continue to work on and bring to critique for the following week. (This is definitely NOT a requirement for showing up to critique, however; bring whatever you’re working on, whether you made it to the workshop or not!)

Also, due to feedback received & in appreciation of the time & energy that goes into putting these workshops together, we are implementing a donation-based fee option for the first time. There will continue to be NO CHARGE to any of these Monday night sessions, but if you feel inspired by what you learn, there is now a quick and easy way (by clicking here) to throw a few bucks toward the cause. 100% of funds (minus a small PayPal fee) go directly to the instructor and the furthering of these workshops.

  4. Hi! My name is L and James River Writers gave me your website. I was looking for small groups that gather and discuss poems that the “members” wrote… I’m a secret poet with no true training and have been wanting to find a literary group which is why I am SO excited to find you and your workshops/meetings. I did have a couple questions though — Are you able to be contacted via email or phone? I’d so appreciate it!
Ps—I read the excerpt poem you posted here from your book — It is wonderful! Congratulations on your book!
