Poetry in Forgotten Places

We’re re-vamping the old “Poetry in Abandoned Spots & Forgotten Spaces” this year to a newer, hipper, more streamlined version of itself. The idea, though, is the same: small group events in inspiring, iconic locations get to know each other and the city a little more intimately.

Our 2017 PFP season concludes with a return to historic Hollywood Cemetery just before Halloween. Rain location is Fan hangout Postbellum, 1323 W. Main St., RVA 23220. RSVP is requested. Please check out full details and future locations on our Facebook page!

Urban FarmhouseMonday night small group critique and workshop series

Join us every 3rd Monday in Rocketts Landing for a 2-hour, completely free poetry workshop, September though May. Other Monday nights of the month are given to hour-and-a-half critique groups at the Urban Farmhouse in Shockoe Slip, year-round. Confused? See the page headed workshops and critique for monthly schedule and details. All levels of writing experience welcome!

    • thanks much, caribbean fool. appreciate the support of local writers. hoping it will indeed be an event, and wish you could be a part. have a feeling ‘butterfly bitch’ would go down well with some of my colleagues…

    • Glad you were there, James, on this

      mid-February night
      fired by poet-heat
      and lightning bolt,

      (where the)

      rhythm of words
      speeds sluggish
      pulse, a seeping
      magma from cold
      tongues that thaws
      both hands and
      hearts.

      Cheers,
      Joanna

    • Bob, Thank YOU guys for letting us partake of your rhythms. Likewise great meeting you all, and I do hope we’ll have another chance to collaborate again soon! I really enjoyed listening last night.
      Best,
      –jsl
